Located on the banks of Lake Ihema, Ruzizi is an eco lodge that is hidden among the swaying palms and fig trees with 9 tents set back from the lake shores. It is a perfect gateway for travellers that enjoy luxury camping. The reception is grass thatched with a dining area and wooden walkways leading to a stunning deck raised over the lake. There is a central fire pit where guests can enjoy  a drink under the stars and catch up on their days alongside other guests.

It was built,  designed and operated solely by they park and profits are channelled to the conservation initiatives of the park.

Ruzizi can only host 20 guests at a time making it a very private retreat for people that do not enjoy crowded places. All tents are en suite, meaning they all have private bathrooms. Some of the amenities at Ruzizi include the following

The mosr interesting activity here is the boat excursions on Lake ihema which usually start at 7:30am, 9am, 3pm and 4:30pm, all arranged by the lodge management.

Akagera Game Lodge:

Located 5km from the southern entrance of Akagera national park, Akagera game lodge overlooks Lake Ihema and Shakani  offering breath taking views especially in the mornings and evenings. It is an excellent destination for someone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and also perfect to relax and unwind on a wild life safari.

Akagera Game lodge is only two a 2 hours drive by road and there is also an option of chartering a chopper from Akagera Aviation to fly to the park within minutes.

 The lodge has been under the management of Mantis Resorts since 2018 and has 60 ensuite rooms, and they all have stunning views of Lake Ihema. Each room has the following amenities.

Activities you can engage in whole at the park include game drives, boat cruises, bird watching, guided nature walks, swimming and sport  fishing. All these can be arranged by the lodge management if you’re interested.

Magashi:

Magashi Camp is located in the diverse north-eastern corner of Akagera National Park, overlooking beautiful Lake Rwanyakazinga.
